Train the Trainer

Build AI and sustainability capability that stays in-house

One workshop and one training day is all it takes for your teams to run
these sessions themselves, at scale, indefinitely.

BUSINESS VALUE

Why it makes sense for your business

It scales impact without scaling your budget

A single external workshop covers one room. Internal facilitators can run it every month, in every office, in every language you operate in. The Climate Fresk movement alone counts more than 100,000+ facilitators worldwide: proof that train-the-trainer is how one workshop becomes culture change.

It embeds the learning, not just ticks the box

A facilitator has to understand the material well enough to deliver it. That depth of understanding tends to stick with the individual and ripple into how they approach their own role, long after the workshop badge has worn off.

It's a visible low-risk sustainability commitment

Training internal facilitators is a concrete, reportable action for ESG and people teams: a named number of certified facilitators, a named number of employees reached, year on year. It is the kind of metric that sits well in a sustainability report.

Organisations including EDF and BNP Paribas have used this exact model to take sustainability training from a few hundred people to tens of thousands, without scaling their external training spend at the same rate.

THE MODEL

How train-the-trainer works

Attend a
workshop

Before anyone can train others, they take part as a participant in the workshop itself (Climate Fresk, Biodiversity Collage, Digital Collage, Energy Collage or Construction Collage). This is non-negotiable and deliberate: nobody facilitates a workshop they haven't experienced from the other side of the table.

Complete facilitator training

Selected participants then attend a dedicated facilitator training day with DecarbonEaser, run in-person or online. This covers the technical, science and content in depth, facilitation technique, handling group dynamics, and practice runs with feedback.

Deliver, with ongoing support

Newly certified facilitators start running workshops for their own colleagues, teams or business units. We stay available for coaching, refresher sessions, updated materials as the science evolves, and a facilitator community to troubleshoot with.

A share of every commercial engagement funds the non-profits behind these workshops.
The added value

What you get that you wouldn't get
from one-off workshops

Most clients run a hybrid: external delivery for leadership and high-stakes sessions, internal facilitators for everyday team and department rollout. That combination is what lets a single pilot workshop grow into a programme reaching hundreds or thousands of employees.

Novartis names the Climate Fresk explicitly in its own Environmental Sustainability Strategy as one of the tools it uses to build a sustainability mindset across the organisation, in support of its commitment to be net-zero by 2040.

EDF committed to rolling out Climate Fresk across its full global workforce of around 165,000 employees, with the model built explicitly on train-the-trainer: employees attend the workshop, train as facilitators, then run sessions for their own colleagues. Tens of thousands have been through it to date.

Henkel has employees across its sustainability and operations teams trained and certified as Climate Fresk facilitators, running workshops internally to build climate literacy alongside the company's wider net-zero and circularity targets.

BNP Paribas has trained close to 40,000 employees through Climate Fresk workshops as part of its Sustainability Academy, with a public ambition to reach 50,000 by the end of 2025, an example of how far the train-the-trainer model can scale inside a single global organisation.

Crown Holdings rolled out Climate Fresk across its European locations, with its own sustainability and marketing directors trained as facilitators to lead sessions internally rather than bringing in external trainers for every session.

Patagonia has rolled out the Climate Fresk with internally trained facilitators running sessions across the organisation. One of the world’s most recognised sustainable brands, building climate literacy from the inside.

EDF, BNP Paribas, Novartis, Henkel and Crown Holdings figures are publicly reported examples of the Climate Fresk train the trainer model in action, not DecarbonEaser engagements.
